Coming unwound

Some days you can feel like you've got the world somewhat figured out, and then as the day wears on you slowly but surely start to feel like the loose ends are getting looser, and like maybe you've been absent-mindedly fiddling with the thread hanging from your sweater, and all of a sudden there's no sweater and a ball of thread at your feet, and all you're left feeling is surprised.
